Created squarely between two iconic works, Stravinsky's "Petrouchka" marked his stylistic transition between the classic magnanimity of "The Firebird" and the revolutionary dissonance and rhythm of "The Rite of Spring." Stravinsky’s ballet follows a love triangle-turned-violent among Petrouchka, the beautiful Ballerina, and her true love, the Moor, and is told in four tableaus, with different musical themes representing the characters.
